Russia wants Caucasus to solve its problems economically

Alexander Dzasokhov, vice president of the Russian Council for International Affairs, told Vestnik Kavkaza that he had attended the Integration Club of the speaker of the Federation Council yesterday and proposed searches for a format of meetings of the North Caucasus authorities and politicians to consider common problems of regional security and settlement of conflicts within the framework of the BSEC and the EaEU. He reminded that Armenia was the only one of the three South Caucasus states to show interest in joining the EaEU. Dzasokhov noted that the Greater Caucasus had high potential for conflicts, especially in modern geopolitical circumstances.

Lack of border will not hinder Armenia’s becoming member of Customs Union

Sergey Glazyev, Russian presidential assistant, told Ekho Moskvy that lack of common border will not be an obstacle for Armenia to become  member of the Customs Union.He reminded about the Kaliningrad Region that lacked the border as well. The official pointed out that the association agreement of Armenia and the EU was identical to the one planned for signing with Ukraine and believes that such agreements are imposed.

Today in Moscow a closed-door meeting was held between the prime ministers of Russia and Ukraine, Dmitry Medvedev and Nikolai Azarov. The meeting was organized to discuss the most painful subject of bilateral relationships, the upcoming signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and EU at the Vilnius summit, which, in fact, will close ways to Eurasian integration to Ukraine and will nullify the efforts of the Russian Federation to bring Ukraine into the Customs Union.
