Turkmen, Uzbek leaders discuss joint projects

The presidents of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, Gurbanguly
Berdimuhamedov and Islam Karimov, held a telephone conversation in
which they reaffirmed  their commitment to bilateral dialogue,
friendship and fruitful partnership, Trend reports, citing the press
service of the Turkmen government.

They also discussed the priorities for cooperation between the two
countries and exchanged views on issues of regional and international
issues of mutual interest.

During the conversation, Karimov invited the Turkmen counterpart to
visit Uzbekistan in the first half of this year. Dates for the visit
will be arranged through diplomatic channels.

The two states are connected by a series of major projects, including
a gas pipeline from Turkmenistan to China via Uzbekistan and
Kazakhstan which opened in December 2009.
