Earthquake in Iranian city of Fargan

An earthquake occured in the city of Fargan in Iran’s Hormozgan
Province at 10.27 (local time). The earthquake was equivalent to 3.8
points on the Richter scale, MEHR cites the Seismology Center of the
Geophysics Institute of Tehran University.

No one was reported injured.

Earthquakes are common in Iran. An earthquake equivalent to 5.3 points
on the Richter scale occurred in Ardakan (Sepidan) in the Fars Region
on January 5. The earthquake damaged houses in 17 villages and killed
18 people.

Another earthquake took place in the town of Fakhrodzh in Kerman
Province. The earthquake measured 6.5 points on the Richter scale. 7
people died, hundreds were injured. Damage was registered in 2950
villages.
