Patriarch of All Georgia to baptize 500 children today

The Catholicos-Patriarch of All-Georgia, Ilia II, will hold a service
at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Tbilisi today. Over 500
children are set to be baptized. The patriarch has baptized some 7,000
people, Trend reports.

The patriarch announced his initiative on January 19, 2007. He will
baptize the third and all the subsequent children in the family. Ilia
II announced all the children he baptizes are keepers of the
patriarch’s throne.

After the service the patriarch will hold the great blessing of water
outside the cathedral. The common baptism will be held at 17.00 local
time.
