Jala Piriyeva becomes champion in exercises with a ball at Islamic Games in Baku

Azerbaijani gymnast Jala Piriyeva became the first champion in the history of Islamic games in the individual exercises with a ball, becoming the first in the finals of this discipline at the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku.

Piriyeva’s final result, which brought her the gold medal of the Islamic Games, is 17.55 points.

The leader of the Azerbaijani national rhythmic gymnastics team, Marina Durunda, became the third with the score 15.8 points.

The silver medal went to Uzbekistan’s Anastasiya Sedyukova who scored 16.950.

The 4th Islamic solidarity Games are held in Baku on May 8-22. Athletes will compete at 16 sports facilities in 17 Olympic and three non-Olympic types of sports. Rhythmic and sports gymnastics competitions were included in the program of the Islamic Solidarity Games  for the first time on the initiative of the First Vice President of Azerbaijan, President of the Federation of Gymnastics of Azerbaijan, Mehriban Aliyeva.
