China insists on further talks with Iran
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaSettlement of the Iranian nuclear program requires further talks,
Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Hong Lei said in
Beijing on Tuesday, RIA Novosti reports.
The official said that the issue cannot be resolved in one or two
meetings. Only negotiations and mutual credence may provide settlement
of nuclear issue, he said, commenting on the meeting in Istanbul last
week.
Istanbul hosted a meeting on settlement of the Iranian nuclear program
on January 21-22. The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and
Security Policy, Catherine Ashton, was heading the EU delegation. The
talks had no results. Iranian officials say that there may be new
meetings but did not clarify the date.
The IAEA said that the latest round of talks did not see any facts of
peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear program.
