Rosatom confirms plans to complete Akkuyu's first unit by 2023
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaRussia's Rosatom plans to complete the first unit of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant project by 2023, Rosatom first deputy CEO Kirill Komarov said.
He noted that Rosatom's overseas order book stands at $133 billion for the next 10 years, with almost three times more foreign orders than in 2011, Reuters reported.
Rosatom is increasing its overseas order book faster than expected and is confident it can continue to expand abroad, Komarov added.
Last week, Akkuyu Nuclear, the project’s company, received a license to generate electricity for 49 years. This summer the company expects to obtain a permit for the construction of the so-called non-nuclear part of the plant, for example, the turbine island, auxiliary buildings and facilities. Akkuyu Nuclear expects to receive the main license in 2018.
