The output of the Miatlinskaya hydro electric plant and Chirurtskaya
hydro plant N1 in Dagestan will be increased after reconstruction, a
RusHydro spokesman told RIA Novosti.

The reconstruction will take 4 years. The power at Miatlinskaya plant
will rise from 110 MW to 144 MW. The runners will be replaced with a
better ones, although their life (30 years) has not expired yet.

The Chirurtskaya hydro electric plant N1 will have turbines and
generators replaced. The power of each hydro-electric generator will
increase from 36 to 44 MW.

Both hydro electric plants are located on Sulak River in Dagestan and
are controlled by the RusHydro office. Miatlinskaya plant is the
second stage of Sulak cascade and a counter-regulator of the
Chirkeyskaya hydro electric plant. Miatlinskaya dam produces 220 MW
(each generator produces 110 MW). The first hydro-electric generator
was launched on January 1, 1986.

Chirurtskaya dam is below Miatlinskaya, it produces 72 MW (36 MW per
generator). The first hydro-electric generator was launched in
December 1961.

Studying of the dams was made by the Central Boiler and Turbine
Institute, a science organization modernizing energy equipment for
thermal, nuclear and hydro electric plants.

RusHydro is the largest generating company in Russia, consisting of 60
facilities based on renewable energy. According to the investment
program of the company, 57.6 billion rubles will be spent on financing
technical updating and reconstruction of the facilities.
