Kazakhstan's population hits 18 million

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said that the country's population has reached 18 million people.

According to the President, Kazakhs were only 40% of the country's population in 1991, but today the proportion of Kazakhs is already over 70%, Interfax reports.

In addition, Nazarbayev pointed out that more than 5 million Kazakhs live abroad.
