Gianni Buquicchio: We made a good job, but now everything is under a question mark
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaWe made a good job, but now everything is under a question mark, Gianni Buquicchio, the President of the Venice Commission, told journalists in Batumi, Interpress agency reports.
"I am sad and disappointed because this process was a really promising one. For once, Georgia's all political forces and society were in agreement and with our modest advice and assistance we made a good job. Now everything is under a question mark. It is a pity, but I invite all political forces of Georgia to try their best to find a good compromise and a good conclusion," said Gianni Buquicchio.
According to him, the position of the Commission about the draft constitutional amendments is globally positive "because it was indeed a good text, but there are some things to be improved – majority for electing judges and other authorities, qualified majority instead of simple majority, and other issues that are ‘important but easy to realize."
