Merkel: EU united more than ever

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that the European Union is united more than ever.

"The EU's unity is greater than some heated debates might suggest. The remaining EU-27 are well prepared for the Brexit negotiations," Daily Express cited her as saying.

"Anyone who thinks that they can solve the problems of this world with isolationism and protectionism is making an enormous mistake," she said, addressing Germany's parliament ahead of a meeting later Thursday with European participants in the G-20 summit

The German chancellor argued that the EU was recovering from its economic crisis and that the G-20 is needed more than ever because countries working together can change things far more effectively than with uncoordinated national policies.
