Hotel chains in Azerbaijan start lay-offs from July

In the height of tourist season some hotel chains operating in Azerbaijan are beginning mass lay-offs of their personnel. Lay-offs are expected to affect first of all the employees of the hotel facilities in Baku, abc.az reports.

"It's not just about temporary staff, but also about permanent employees," the source emphasized.

The source adds that the staff reduction may make up 10-15% of the actual workforce of hotels.

"The upcoming layoffs are linked with lack of business under the accumulated number of employees. Main international events in 2017 (Islamic Solidarity Games, F1 Grand Prix) which provided active inbound tourism passed and the current tourist flow does not allow individual networks to ensure the necessary filling of their facilities. In the end, it is necessary to save on costs, primarily on the staff," the source said.
