Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov positively assessed the contacts between the State Duma deputies and Georgian parliamentarians from the opposition Alliance of Patriots of Georgia.

"As for contacts between parliamentarians, we welcome it," he said at a meeting with his Belgian counterpart Didier Reynders, stressing that Moscow is ready for contacts at other levels.

"We have a channel through the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the special representative of the Georgian  prime minister for relations with Russia Zurab Abashidze, we are also ready for other formats that would be acceptable to both sides," Sputnik Georgia cited him as saying.
