Avakyan, the executive director of the charity foundation 'Armenian
Register of Bone Marrow Donors', news Armenia reports.
The foundation was created in June 1999. Its aim is to find donors for
those who are ill with leukemia and other blood diseases in Armenia
and its Diaspora.
There are a lot of people who have these diseases in Armenia, and as
there is no opportunity to conduct transplants in the country, all
transplants are carried out abroad. The necessity of organizing this
branch of medicine is clear. An agreement on this has been achieved
