Second power block launched at Iran's tallest dam

power unit produces 250 MW, IRIB News reports.
The first power block was launched a month ago.
Khosein Randzhaban, executive director of Karun-4 construction, said
that the hydro electric plant will have 4 power blocks. The third and
fourth power blocks start operating before March 20, 2011.
The executive director said that approximately $1.2 billion was
invested into Karun-4. Its water storage has 17 billion cubic meters
of water.
The dam is 230 meters high and 440 meters long. It is the tallest
concrete dam in Iran. The dam is located on Karun River, 180 km from
Shahrekord (the administrative center of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari
Province).
