Russia may arrest Gulnara Karimova's real estate
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe General Prosecutor's Office of Uzbekistan asked Russian authorities to arrest the real estate of Gulnara Karimova, the daughter of the first President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.
"The General Prosecutor's Office of Uzbekistan sent a request to the Russia's General Prosecutor's Office on legal assistance on Karimova's criminal case, which asks to arrest her real estate in Russia," Interfax cited the statement as saying.
The request is under the consideration. According to the Uzbek side, the request contains the confidential information, the report says.
The probe was launched against Karimova in October 2013 for extortion and large-scale tax evasion committed by the organized criminal group for 2001-2013. The court sentenced to 5 years in prison in August 2015, AKIpress recalls.
The General Prosecutor's Office of Uzbekistan reported that investigation against Karimova continues for other charges and she is taken into custody. The total amount of the damage amounted almost $2 billion. Uzbekistan initiates arrest of shares in 12 countries, including in Russia, for more than $1.5 billion.
