Russia and Iran discuss Caspian Sea security
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaSenior Iranian and Russian navy commanders in a meeting in Indonesia discussed ways to boost security in the Caspian Sea through cooperation among the littoral states.
During the meeting in Bali, Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari and Russian naval delegation explored avenues for bolstering and reinvigorating bilateral ties as well as maintaining security of the Caspian Sea.
"We believe that the Caspian Sea is the sea of peace and friendship and in order to establish security in this sea, there is no need for foreign intervention," Rear Admiral Sayyari said.
The top Iranian and Russian naval officials also stressed the importance of developing mutual cooperation, particularly in naval, training and technical fields, Farsnews reported.
