Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan sharply criticized the mayors of some Turkish cities, where the monuments and sculptures of him were built.

"Some mayors built monuments and sculptures, and when I heard this, I was very upset," he said during a meeting with mayors from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) in Ankara.

"Friends, this does not correspond to our values," RIA Novosti quotes him as saying. "I do not want any monuments, no busts, and let no one make such mistakes," he said.
