Germany intends to further restrict economic cooperation with Turkey

Germany can take additional measures to restrict its economic cooperation with Turkey amid a crisis in bilateral relations, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said today.

She also noted that she intends to "call things by their own names" in a dialogue with the Turkish authorities, but will not sever relations with Ankara. "Turkey is moving away from our understanding of a state of law, but, when necessary, we will maintain contacts to release detained German citizens," TASS cited Merkel as saying.
