Modernized customs checkpoint on Georgia-Armenia border opened

A new customs checkpoint 'Bavra' was inaugurated on the Georgian-Armenian border.

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan attended the official opening of the modernized Bavra checkpoint.  A Georgian delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister, Finance Minister Dmitry Kumsishvili also attended the opening ceremony. 

Deputy Chairman of the Georgia’s Revenue Service Vakhtang Lashkaradze said that the new customs checkpoint is very important for strengthening the country’s transit status.

The Bavra checkpoint has been modernized with financial support by the European Union (EU) and the European Investment Bank, and by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
