Armenia adopted a mechanism of co-payment for ambulance and
gynaecology services on February 1, Armenian Healthcare Minister
Arutyun Kushkyan said, Arka.am reports.

Implementation of the co-payment system was approved on June 10, 2010.
The corresponding amendments were introduced to the law on free
medical aid and services guaranteed by the government.

The co-payment is the difference between the set price for treatment
guaranteed by the government and the real price at a medical
establishment. Its sum differs, depending on the region. Rural
villagers have smaller co-payment sizes.

The co-payment system will improve the quality of medical services,
managing of financial streams, forecasts of financial expenses of the
population.

The minister noted that the finances will help raise wages of medical staff.
