Putin decorates head of Inter-Parliamentary Union with Order of Friendship

Russian President Vladimir Putin decorated the Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Saber Chowdhury, with the Order of Friendship.

The award was presented for a significant contribution to the development of interparliamentary relations, strengthening of cooperation between the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and IPU, Russian media report.

Recall, Chowdhury has been participating in the UPI work since 2009, in October 2014 he was elected the chairman of the union. In October of this year Choudhury's term expires, and the new chairman of the union will be elected at the IPU assembly in St. Petersburg.
