Moscow State University's Baku branch holds open day

Educational activity of this branch is almost entirely carried out according to the curricula and programs of the Moscow State University, using innovative technologies and methods. Basically, students of the branch are studying at the level of the Moscow State University without leaving Baku.
Stands with all necessary information, literature and brochures on education system and admission rules were installed in the main hall. Potential enrollees were able to learn about conditions and rules of the entrance exams in 2018-2019 academic year and receive comprehensive information about several faculties (philology, applied mathematics, chemistry, psychology, economics and physics).
During the opening ceremony, head of the department of general topology and geometry of the Mechanics and Mathematics Faculty, professor Yuri Sadovnichy, greeted enrollees and their parents. In his speech, he stressed that the Moscow State University's Baku branch was founded in 2008 in accordance with the decree of Azerbaijani President. This academic year is the tenth anniversary for the branch.
"Our branch has a rich library, 20 laboratories in the faculties of chemistry, physics and psychology, which are equipped with the most modern equipment, which allows to carry out experimental studies of almost any complexity. Students of the branch are studying in huge and technically equipped audiences, there is a sports complex on the campus. In addition, we also have a dormitory," he noted.
Secretary of the admission commission of the Baku branch, Denis Ilyutko, spoke about the rules of admission and documents that must be presented.
He said that entrance exams must be taken in Russian, and that most lectures and seminars are also conducted in Russian. Citizens of Azerbaijan, with the exception of citizens who received higher education thanks to the republic's budget earlier, the education is completely. Others must pay 1,750 manats per year. They can enroll into the university without passing the exams of the State Examination Center of Azerbaijan).
Right now there are six faculties: philology (with departments of Russian and Romance-Germanic philology), applied mathematics, chemistry, psychology, economics and physics.
Enrollees who didn't pass entrance examins will be able to participate in the competition held by the State Examination Center to possibly enroll in other universities of Azerbaijan.
Baku branch also has free courses for preparation for the entrance exams
Leading professors of the Moscow State University - Alexander Saletsky, Natalia Ganina, Sergey Gashkov, Sergey Karlov, Valentina Barabanshchikova - told enrollees about activities of the faculties and specifics of educational process, and then answered questions of enrollees and their parents.
Baku branch created all necessary conditions, both for students and teachers. In addition to four dormitories that are functioning since 2012, this year, another 3-storey building has been built and commissioned for professors from Moscow. More than 200 students and 80 from the MSU professors live in the dormitories.
After the official part of the event, attendants had the opportunity to visit university's campus in Hodzhasan, where an excursion and presentation of the faculties were held.
