Mexico to investigate illegal visit by its MPs to occupied Azerbaijani territories
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaMexican parliament will investigate the illegal visit of its MPs to the occupied Azerbaijani territories, the President of Mexico’s Chamber of Deputies Jorge Carlos Ramirez Marin said at a meeting with Azerbaijani Charge d'Affaires in Mexico Mammad Talibov, the Azerbaijani Embassy in Mexico said.
Commenting on the illegal visit of three Mexican MPs, representing MORENA and RPD political parties, to the occupied Azerbaijani territories, he said the actions of those MPs reflect their individual position and not the position of the Chamber of Deputies and the political parties they represent.
Jorge Carlos Ramirez Marin also noted that Mexico is interested in further strengthening ties of friendship and cooperation with Azerbaijan. He gave instructions at the meeting to investigate the issue and take appropriate measures to avoid such cases in the future.
He said that Mexico's position on the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict remains unchanged, adding the Chamber of Deputies supports four UN Security Council resolutions demanding the restoration of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, Trend reported.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry's spokesman Hikmet Hajiyev said on October 24 that the illegal visit of the head of Mexico-Armenia Friendship Group, Blanca Margarita Cuata Dominguez, a member of that group Maria Cristina Teresa Garcia Bravo and another person accompanying them to Azerbaijani lands occupied by Armenia is under investigation.
