The seventh round of the Syrian peace process with representatives from Iran, Russia, and Turkey in attendance ended in Astana.

In a joint statement, representatives of all three countries reaffirmed their commitment to the settlement of the Syrian crisis by political means, stressing the need for the parties to the conflict to take measures to build confidence.

Moscow, Ankara and Tehran once again noted that there is no military solution to the Syrian crisis. In addition, the states reaffirmed their commitment to the independence and territorial integrity of Syria.

Head of Iranian delegation at Astana talks Hossein Jaberi Ansari said that guarantor states agreed to set up 12 observation posts in Syria’s Idlib aimed at implementing the de-escalation agreement.
