First BTK freight train arrives in Kars
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe first freight train running along the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway reached Kars.
The train covered a distance of 856 km in 40 hours, ADY Express, subsidiary of Azerbaijan Railways, said, adding that the first operation on cargo transshipment on the BTK rail line took place at Akhalkalaki station.
The train departed from Kazakhstan Oct. 24. Its final destination will be the Turkish Mersin. It is planned to cover a distance of 258 km from Kars to Mersin in 40 hours.
The train contains 32 containers loaded with grain.
The opening of the BTK railway took place in Baku Oct.30.
