Sunday's demonstration in Istanbul is being undertaken in order to express solidarity with Egyptian protesters demanding President Mubarak's resignation, Hurriyet reports.

"Tahrir is not just a square for Cairo anymore. It is the voice of people longing for freedom and justice, who are angry at poverty and lawless ways. Therefore, we call to them from Taksim Square, representing freedom," said Abdullah Demirhan, the chairman of the Istanbul office of the People's Voice Party, which organized the demonstration.
