Pentagon refutes Russian Defense Ministry's accusations of providing cover for ISIS
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaA spokesman for the coalition to defeat the ISIS, Col. Ryan Dillon, fired back on accusations from the Russian Defense Ministry, after it accused the U.S. of providing cover for the terror group in Syria.
"I would say the Russian Ministry of Defense statements are about as accurate as their air campaign. And I think that is a reason for them to start coming out with their latest barrage of lies," he told a briefing with Pentagon reporters on Tuesday.
"That is pretty consistent with what we have seen come out of the Russian MoD as being baseless, inaccurate, and, you know, completely false," Reuters cited Dillon as saying.
The Russian Defence Ministry issued a statement accusing the United States of providing de-facto air cover for ISIS in Syria.
"However, the U.S. command’s refusal to carry out strikes on the convoys of ISIL terrorists retreating from Albu Kamal on November 9 is an objective fact reflected in the transcripts of the talks and therefore, fully known to the U.S. side,” Interfax cited the ministry as saying.
