Festival of Cheese to celebrate local heritage, diverse products
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaA wide range of cheese products, live demonstration of their production and an unveiling of a state initiative for promoting Georgian cheese will be on the agenda for visitors of this year's Festival of Cheese, opening in Tbilisi today, Agenda.ge reports. About 50 local cheese producers are set to exhibit and sell their products on the capital's Rose Square during day-long activities of the event on Saturday.
The exhibits will feature varying cheese types reflecting local peculiarities of their production in Georgia's different provinces. Visitors will be offered to discover both traditional cheese products made with time-tested recipes and contemporary European brand types made in Georgia.
Food artisans will hold demonstrations of the process of producing cheese, while a special stall will host those interested in tasting products presented at the event. The festival will also host unveiling of the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia's project for promoting Georgian cheese throughout next year.
