Putin names main results of 2017

Russian President Vladimir Putin sees exit from recession and stronger defenses as one of the main achievements of the outgoing year.

"It is very important that our economy has re-emerged from recession and achieved a trajectory of sustainable development and growth," he said at a meeting with staff of a repairs and maintenance depot at a railway station in Moscow. 

Among other significant achievements of the year Putin emphasized "tangible steps to strengthen the defenses and the army," TASS reported.
