Putin holds separate press conference for Trump

The presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, have held a phone conversation, the Kremlin press service said.

"Acute issues of bilateral relations, as well as the situation in crisis hot spots worldwide were discussed, with an emphasis placed on settling the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue," the press service said in a statement.

The sides agreed to maintain contact.

The conversation was held on the US initiative.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said that Trump thanked Putin for comments on the economic growth in the US, made during the annual news conference on Thursday.

"President Trump thanked President Putin for acknowledging America’s strong economic performance in his annual press conference," she said.

Sanders added that the two leaders "discussed working together to resolve the very dangerous situation in North Korea."
