Interfax-Azerbaijan head Alexander Ivanov passes away
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThis morning, the general director of the Interfax-Azerbaijan news agency Alexander Ivanov suddenly died from a brain hemorrhage in Moscow.
Alexander Alekseevich Ivanov was born in Baku on July 12, 1950. For many years he worked in the ninth branch of the Fifth Directorate of the State Security Committee of the Azerbaijan SSR in the section that provided personal security to the candidate to the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Azerbaijani Communist Party Heydar Aliyev, and later worked as the chief of the personal security service for Azerbaijani President Heydar Aliyev.
In August 2005, he was appointed Director General of the Interfax-Azerbaijan information agency.
