The Russian presidential envoy to the North Caucasus Alexander
Khloponin believes that 2010 saw little success in fighting extremism
and he is ready to resolve staff issues, he said in at a meeting with
students at the Russian Science Day in Nalchik on February 9,
ITAR-TASS reports.

Khloponin said that one of the reasons for activation of underground
resistance is the social injustice. Another reason is criminals and
bandits hiding behind religious slogans.

The envoy believes that high unemployment in the region is not a
reason for the rising extremism. 88,000 workplaces were opened in the
Caucasus, unemployment dropped by 334,000.

Khloponin recommended the North Caucasus youth to be more mobile and
to visit other regions to find jobs. He urged the construction groups
to start moving and promised to support them with contracts in other
regions.
