Landslide continues on Jugba-Sochi highway

The landslide that damaged the federal highway in Tuapse continues
to damage the road, Yuga.ru cites the press-service of the
Krasnodar Territory administration as saying.

A road section of Jugba-Sochi highway was destroyed on February 8. One
line was still functioning. However, it was also destroyed on February
10. The land slid down by 6 meters. An emergency situation regime was
introduced in Tuapse District. The highway was closed.

This is the largest landslide in Kuban in the last 30 years, moving at 20cm/h.
Four houses are in the risk zone, one of them was damaged. People were
evacuated.

260 heavy freighters remain on the road. Three protected platforms
were prepared: in Jugba, Lermontovo and Agoe.

Restoration of the road section will take at least 3 weeks. The police
at Goryachy Hluch are sorting vehicles. Food and necessary supplies
for Sochi and coastal areas are allowed to enter the railway station
or the Shaumyan mountain pass.

Truck drivers with construction materials and non-food products were
provided with hot food and water.
