Passports with integrated chips to appear in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on the preparation of identity documents of a new generation, the state news agency Azertac said.

The Cabinet of Ministers was given three months to prepare and submitto the president the descriptions, specifications and sample of an ID containing an electronic chip.

The chip will contain data on the place of residence and marital status of a citizen, as well as his fingerprints and other biometric indicators.
