Georgian Prosecutor's Office launches investigation into journalist Giorgi Sanaia’s murder
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe Prosecutor's Office of Georgia has launched an investigation into the murder of journalist Giorgi Sanaia on the basis of alleged new circumstances in the case, InterPressNews reported.
According to the statement released by the Prosecutor's Office, "on the grounds of the newly revealed circumstances, the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia launched an investigation into the murder of journalist G.S. that took place on July 26, 2001, under article 108 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (premeditated murder).
The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia studied initial information, interviewed convict K.S., as well as the family members of the killed journalist, and decided to launch an investigation given the newly revealed circumstances in order to objectively and thoroughly verify the spread reports. The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia will conduct all necessary investigative and procedural actions and will inform the public of the results of the investigation," reads the statement.
