Arts for Education: classical music artists to perform, teach at Tbilisi fest

A broad selection of classical works, diverse set of venues and artistic talent from Georgia and abroad is the attraction of the Arts for Education chamber music festival launching in Tbilisi today, Agenda.ge reports. Promoted by organisers as an "intensive classical music festival and academy”, it will place equal focus on concert performances and educational opportunities for its participants.

Marking the first edition of the event, organisers have drawn up a roster of artists that includes Mariam Machaidze and Sooanh Oh on violin, Lilya Tymchyshyn on viola, Johannes Velia on cello, Ketevan Tigashvili on oboe and Matteo Gobbini on piano.

The final show will present a collaboration between students from Tbilisi State Conservatoire, No. 1 Central Music School and invited artists at the Conservatoire venue. The showcased artists will play works by Mikhail Glinka, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Franz Schubert, among other composers.

The Arts for Education festival will conclude in Tbilisi on March 16.
