Russian Defense Ministry’s website suffers DDoS attacks

"On the last day of the poll for new weapons' names, the official website of the Russian Defense Ministry suffered seven DDoS attacks, five of which were of average power, while two more powerful attacks took place from 19:00 to 20:00 (16:00 to 17:00 GMT), in the last hour of the poll," the source elaborated.
"The Defense Ministry’s cyber security services thwarted all the DDoS attacks," the source stressed, adding that "in the last minutes of the poll, the number of requests was tens of thousands per second."
"More than 600,000 users from all over the world monitored the poll’s results in the last hour of the poll," the source added.
The source added that the attacks originated from Western Europe, North America and Ukraine.
The poll on the ministry’s website concluded at 20:00 (17:00 GMT) on Thursday.
