Putin demands clean and transparent elections, Peskov says

The press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, said that Vladimir Putin is in favor of the purity of the elections.

"The purity of the election is what President Putin demands and requires, whether it's a single voting day that occurs in September, or whether it's parliamentary elections or presidential elections. As the head of state, Putin always speaks consistently for the cleanest and transparent elections,’’ Peskov said.

He also noted that according to the head of state, there should be no uncompetitive atmosphere. "Moreover, he does not need it himself, because he is a candidate with very strong positions," RIA Novosti quotes Peskov as saying.
