Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe Nagorno-Karabakh conflict should be resolved through diplomatic solutions, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said in a joint statement to the press with the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
"We believe the issues existing in the region should find a solution in a political way. We are convinced that the problem in Yemen must be resolved through political, not military means. We believe that the Syrian issue should also be resolved by political means. Azerbaijan and Iran share similar views on the efforts made by the countries of the region on this issue," the president of Iran said.
Rouhani noted that the Karabakh problem should also be settled through political means.
"We want to witness the establishment of lasting stability in the region through the efforts of Azerbaijan and Armenia. We are pleased that diplomatic efforts are being made in this area. It is important for us that the territorial integrity of the countries and the geography of the region are not changed. International principles, to which the world community respects, should become an instrument for resolving the issue. Our desire at today's meeting and for the future is to strengthen the ties between Azerbaijan and Iran in the common interests of our states and the whole world and good relations between the two friendly states," President Rouhani said.
