Azerbaijan is on a good track when it comes to development of gymnastics, Ionut Mirica Ciprian, counsellor at the Embassy of Romania in Azerbaijan, said in an interview with Vestnik Kavkaza.

"I'm in contact with Romanian federation, our guests from Romania came here and they were impressed by the quality of the competitions. Everything is done quickly and promptly, not only quickly, but in a professional manner. We wish to have these kind of facilities in Romania. We're looking forward to have this kind of organization like in Azerbaijan," he said.

Aswering the question about whether he follows rhythmic gymnastics closely, he said: "I was here last year, two years ago. Every year. I got invitation from the AGF, and I was very satisfied, thank them very much for this, for the fact that they are in contact with us on this, keep us informed about the events. Of course, we know about our athletes, we come here with great pleasure."

He also spoke about the opening ceremony of the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup. "It was impressive. I was watching it with my wife and my daughter. There were so many artists there, it was impressive. I think when Azerbaijan puts so many elements into choreography, it's always impressive. When you organize such events, you already won so much great experience," he said.

The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup is being at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku on April 27-29.  Some 127 gymnasts from 26 countries are participating in the tournament. Depending on the results of the qualification, the winners of all-around and the participants of the finals in individual apparatus in both types of programs will be determined. Athletes will compete for 8 medal sets.
