Margvelashvili: policy of strategic patience required towards Russia
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaGeorgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili said he believes the "policy of strategic patience" towards Russia chosen by the country's authorities is correct.
"In general, I want to say that the policy that implies strategic patience is the right one ... This direction reuires a robust approach," the Georgian president said, addressing the parliament with hia annual report.
He also criticized the amendments to the country's constitution, which imply the abolition of the National Security Council under the president, RIA Novosti reports.
The next presidential election will be held in Georgia this autumn. Margvelashvili has not yet stated whether he intends to run again. The 2018 presidential elections will be the last, in which the head of state will be elected by the people. In the future, the president will be elected by 300 delegates.
