RPA promises to vote for Pashinyan
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaVahram Baghdasaryan, head of the parliamentary faction of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, said against the background of today's global protests in the republic that the RPA agrees to vote for the candidate who will gain the majority of votes of other factions.
"The RPA will vote for that candidate for the premiere who will have the support of 1/3 of the parliament deputies. We will not have our own candidate, "TASS quotes him as saying.
Recall that there are 105 seats in the Armenian parliament, which means that the RPA has promised to vote for anyone who will gain 35 votes from other factions. Since the Yelk faction, whose leader Nikol Pashinyan heads the protests and is the only candidate for prime minister at the moment, has 9 seats, and the Block of Tsarukyan faction supports him and has 31 seats, formally, this could mean Pashinyan's victory on the May 8th elections.
