New police chief in Krasnodar Territory

Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev introduced General-Major Vladimir
Vinevsky on February 22 as the police chief of Krasnodar Territory.
Vinevsky was welcomed by Governor Alexander Tkachyov, heads of police
stations of the region, Yuga.ru cites the press-service of the Main
Police Department of the region as saying.


Nurgaliyev reminded about the security problems demonstrated by the
mass killing at the Kushyovskaya Cossack village. He emphasized that
Vinevsky is experienced in managing police work and has state honors.


After his introduction, the new police chief announced his goals. He
said that the main goal is the protection of citizens from crime. His
work will base on honesty, ethics, obstinacy and professionalism.
The former police chief of Krasnodar Territory Sergey Kucheruk was
dismissed by the Russian President Dmitry Medvedev in a live show on
TV after the tragedy at Kushyovskaya Cossack village. Kucheruk's
deputy Boris Glebov became the acting police chief in the region on
December 1.


Medvedev signed a decree on February 16, appointing Vinevsky, who was
the former regional police chief at Lipetsk Region and a high-ranking
official in Saint-Petersburg and Leningrad Region.
