Azerbaijani parliament discusses new Customs Code

Azerbaijani parliament has passed the new Customs Code in the first reading, Trend reports.


Head of the parliament committee for economic policy Ziyad Samedzade said that the new Customs Code meets the world standards. It uses information and communication technologies, increasing the quantity and speed of documentation process. This will increase trade turnover.


Deputy Ali Masimli says that the code was prepared according to current demands.


The current Customs Code was adopted in 1997.

The new code will improve the material and technical basis, build up customs infrastructure, increase income, use regulations, speed up Azerbaijan’s membership in the WTO, make the customs system automatic, improve security.
