CIS representatives to meet in Minsk

The CIS Executive Committee will hold a meeting of authorized envoys of the commonwealth members, other structures of the CIS and the Commission for Economic Affairs of the CIS Economic Council in Minsk on February 25, 1news.az cites the Executive Committee.


The Executive Committee head Sergey Lebedev will also take part in the meeting. The sides will talk on the measures that need to be taken to fulfill the plan of events on the 20th anniversary of the CIS. The plan includes 36 events, most of which are planned for 2011.


The plan includes a joint declaration of the council of heads of the CIS states on the 20th anniversary, an anniversary summit, meetings on cooperation, an international science-practical conference in Minsk, the “CIS 20 years” inter-state exhibition in Moscow.


The states plan the “CIS Week”, specialized forums, contests, publication of an anniversary album, theme programs, souvenir production. The inter-state exhibition “CIS 20 years” will be a separate topic for discussion. The exhibition will be held at the All-Russian Exhibition Center on June 28 – July 3, 2011. It will form a positive innovative image of the CIS members, further cooperation of the commonwealth and will demonstrate results and prospects.

The exhibition will be split in to two sections. The central section will demonstrate the results of integration and cooperation in the CIS in the last 20 years. The other section will present national expositions of the CIS states, their achievements in economic, social, cultural and education spheres. Special attention will be paid to transport, energy and investment invitation. Priority inter-state programs and projects will be demonstrated.


The exhibition will include the international science-practical conference on improving food security of the CIS, round tables, a humanitarian forum entitled “The Young Generation Live Without Limits”, culture festivals. An organization committee was formed, including official representatives of the CIS, heads of structures, the CIS Executive Committee, public organizations.


Representatives and members of the Commission for Economic Affairs will discuss the achievements in 2010. The CIS has 82 structures, including 66 structures of sectorial cooperation. There are 32 structures related to transport and communication, 13 – to humanitarian and information communication, 13 – to security.
