Innovative potential of the North Caucasus Federal District

Among all regions of the North Caucasus Federal District, Dagestan has the highest innovative potential. It takes the second place after the Rostov region in the south of Russia. However, in business circles Dagestan seems to have poor innovative potential and investors don’t pay attention to it.

There is a gap between an innovator and a producer. That is why modern scientific innovations cannot be implemented in industry in the republic. In order to have investments there is must be a clear business project, with a mechanism of implementation according to Russian and world standards. However, engineers cannot develop a business project, that is not their job.

At the innovative forum in December 2010 in Nalchik the head of the Dagestan agency of innovative business, Musrutdin Medzhidov, proposed to unite various business projects of different republics. So enterprises of Kabardino-Balkaria, Dagestan and Ingushetia developed new innovation projects.

According to Medzhidov, within the development strategy of the North Caucasus Federal District there are the necessary facilities for creating new employment and boosting the economy.
