New photos of old Yerevan showed in Baku
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaPhotographs and documents devoted to old Yerevan and those found in Georgia's archives, were presented in Baku today, the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza reported.
The press conference was attended by the senior aide in Azerbaijan's Presidential Administration, political scientist Fuad Akhundov and the director of the Center for History of the Caucasus, senior researcher at the Institute of Law and Human Rights of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), Rizvan Huseynov.
The unique photographs taken by orientalist Dmitry Ermakov (1845-1916), as well as archival documents of that time, were demonstrated at the event.
The event was also attended by Armenian participants of the Platform for Peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Fuad Akhundov in his speech noted the special importance of the Armenian society's information support in delivering truthful information about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict . "I am very happy that we find a response in the Armenian society. There are smart people in Armenia who do not need falsification of history," he explained.
The senior aide in Azerbaijan's Presidential Administration reminded that today marks 100 years since the transfer of the historical territory of Azerbaijan - Irevan to Armenia. "After Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia gained independence, the Armenian government declared war on Baku and Tbilisi on the basis of territorial claims, but the war with Georgia was not so bloody as the war with Azerbaijan, which continues to this day," Akhundov said.
The press conference is one of the jubilee events timed to the centenary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.
