Rolling stock of Iranian railways to be fully privatized

The deputy director of Iranian Railways, Taleb Zare, said that freight and passenger rolling stock will be fully transferred to the private sector next year, Iran News reports.
According to Taleb Zare, 97% of freight cars are currently in private hands, while the remaining 3,500 cars will be soly by auction to private companies.
The private sector also owns 48% of passenger cars. The rest is owned by the passenger railway company "Raja".
Taleb Zare said that at present there are 30 transportation companies involved in railway operations in Iran, 22 of which specialize in freight and 8 in passenger traffic.
