Russian Airspace Forces helped the Syrian army to prevent the militants attempting to make a breakthrough towards Palmyra, the Center for the Reconciliation of the Warring Parties reports.

It is specified that the terrorists broke through to Palmira from Al-Tanf.

As a result of the collision, five militants, a pick-up truck and a motorcycle were destroyed.

"The rest of the extremists dispersed and moved back to the direction of the illegally occupied settlement of the city of Al-Tanf," the report said.

A group of militants, trying to make a breakthrough, was found by Syrian observers at Mount Gurab. The terrorists tried to break through on motorcycles and pick-up trucks with heavy weapons.

The center added that the militants had repeatedly attempted a breakthrough, but this one was the largest, RIA Novosti reports.

Recall, the United States occupies a 34-mile zone around its military base in Al-Tanf, where it trains and equips armed Syrian opposition forces. The base was illegally deployed in April last year under the pretext of the fighting against terrorists.
